Fall in Love All Over Again in Romantic St. Lucia

St. Lucia is a gorgeous island in the Caribbean, just off the coast of Central America, that offers couples the ideal tropical island paradise for a romantic escape. St. Lucia is a little quieter and more laid back than some of the other Caribbean islands, so it is perfect for couples who really want to unwind and get away from it all.

Whether you’re celebrating your honeymoon or your 50th wedding anniversary, St. Lucia is a beautiful place to spend some quality time together. Vacationing as a couple will take you away from all of the stresses of day-to-day life and allow you to simply focus on enjoying each other’s company once again.

So what great experiences can you plan during your relaxing St. Lucia getaway? From hiking in the mountains to cruising on a catamaran to going on a diving trip, here are some ideas for activities that will make your romantic trip unforgettable.

Gorge on Great Seafood Together

If you and your partner love seafood, you will have a blast at the weekly fish fry in the small seaside town of Anse La Raye. Every Friday night you’ll have the chance to mingle with locals and other island visitors to taste some first-rate, delicious seafood. A street is closed off for the Anse La Raye Friday Night Fish Fry, and couples can stroll and sample everything from red snapper to stuffed crabs and grilled lobsters.

Enjoy the live music, dancing and local beverages such as Piton beer and Bounty rum. Feast on fresh fish, toast to each other’s health and have a wonderfully romantic night dancing until late into the tropical night.

Challenge Yourselves by Climbing Gros Piton

If you’re an adventurous couple, a hike to the top of this majestic island peak can be a great challenge. Gros Piton, an inactive volcano, towers 2,600 feet high — a climb that takes approximately four hours. The terrain is somewhat rocky, so it’s recommended that you take a guide with you. Taxis or local buses will take you to the beginning of the trail, and entrance to the park costs $30.

The climb will bring you closer together as you encourage each other to push hard to reach the top, and gazing out at the view hand in hand will be a moment you will never forget.

The twin peaks of Gros Piton and Petit Piton also have beautiful winding mountain roads on which you can go for a romantic drive. The views are breathtaking, but just make sure that you’re in a vehicle with good tires and brakes.

Sail Away on a Catamaran Cruise

What could be more romantic than sailing off into the sunset? It’s possible to charter a catamaran for a day or an evening with dinner and a perhaps even a bottle of Champagne. Sit back and watch as the sun dips into the sea and floods the sky with vibrant hues. What a perfect moment to share and re-connect as a couple.

Experience a Healing Mud Bath at the Soufriere Volcano

The volcano that can be found outside of the sleepy seaside town of Soufriere is said to be the world’s only drive-in volcano, making it a unique and interesting attraction on the island of St. Lucia. Although the volcano itself is dormant, the craggy rocks inside it are steaming with bubbling sulphur springs that come from an underground source.

This mineral-rich water is said to have healing properties, and couples can enjoy a spa treatment that involves massaging the fine gray thermal mineral mud into their skin and then rinsing off in a warm waterfall.

These are just a few of the wonderful romantic experiences you can enjoy on a trip to St. Lucia. Of course, don’t forget the simple pleasure of strolling barefoot down the beach, hand in hand.
